Ingredients

  • For the Chicken
  • chicken wings, flats
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp white pepper
  • ¼ tsp MSG
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp avocado oil
  • For the Sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 ½ tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 ½ tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili paste
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp minced ginger
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp cornstarch
  • For the Cooking and Garnish
  • avocado oil, for griddle
  • green onions, chopped
  • roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Season the wings. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. In a bowl, toss them with the garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, MSG, salt, crushed red pepper, and avocado oil until they are well coated.
  2. Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, sweet chili sauce, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, chili paste, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced ginger, crushed red pepper, and cornstarch. Mix everything together until smooth.
  3. Cook the wings. Heat your griddle or skillet to medium-low heat. Add a generous amount of avocado oil, then place the wings on the surface. Cook for about 15 minutes, flipping every couple of minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 180 degrees.
  4. Glaze the wings. Push the wings to the side to make a little nest in the center of the griddle. Pour the sauce into the center and let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes until it bubbles and thickens. Toss the wings in the sauce and let them sit for another couple of minutes so the glaze caramelizes.
  5. Garnish and serve. Remove the wings from the griddle and arrange them on a serving plate. Top with chopped green onions and roasted sesame seeds.

Nay’s Tips:

  • If you do not like spice, you can skip the crushed red pepper in the seasoning and the sauce.
  • If you cannot use MSG, you can substitute it with an equal amount of salt.
  • You can cook these on a griddle or in a regular skillet.
